Naser Hejazi - 1949-2011 Lost His Last Fight

Nasser hejazi, the legendary Iranian National and Taj / Esteglal goalkeeper, succombed to his illness on Monday, 23rd May and passed away in hospital surrounded by his family.

Nasser Hejazi played in goal in Argentina Suring 1978 World Cup and had a trial with Manchester United as a result of his showing.

Among Hejazi’s many achievements lifting the Asian clubs championship with Taj stands out. He later moved into management and coached Esteghlal.

The thoughts and prayers of the members of Persian Football Centre are with him and his family. May he rest in peace. Roohesh shaad.

Daei tops poll of best players

MNA - Former Iran striker Ali Daei was chosen as Iran’s best player over the past two decades, according to polls taken by an Iranian TV stationstation on Monday night.

Daei finished in first place, winning 45 percent of the votes in the six-candidate race. The current Persepolis coach was followed by veteran midfielder Karim Bagheri (21 percent) and retired keeper Ahmad-Reza Abedzadeh (16 percent).

Schalke 04 midfielder Ali Karimi finished in fourth place with nine percent of the votes, followed by retired striker Khodadad Azizi (6 percent) and Steel Azin midfielder Mehdi Mahdavikia (3 percent).
