PTV - Iranian midfielder Javad Nekounam’s second-half goal has helped his side Osasuna win a 1-0 victory against Sporting Gijon at the Estadio Reyno de Navarra. The Iranian soccer star netted the winning goal after he converted a penalty in the 55th minute on Sunday night.

Esteghlal Ahvaz coach quits after heavy defeat

AFC - The fledgling Iran Pro League claimed its first victim in Esteghlal Ahvaz coach Khodadad Azizi as Peykan regained the lead after seven rounds of action on Sunday.  Esteghlal Ahvaz’s big 5-2 loss at the hands of Zob Ahan was enough for the former Asian Player of the Year to put in his papers. The club replaced Azizi (pictured) with Majid Bagherinia.

PTV - Persepolis has been held to a 2-2 draw against Rah Ahan, leaving the Reds still on the chase of their third win in Iran’s Premier League after seven matches. This was Persepolis’ third consecutive draw in the season, which left them in the seventh position with 11 points.
