Afshin Afshar (lastkick.com) – In an unprecedented move, the Iranian Football Federation made available the details of Team Melli coach Afshin Ghotbi. The information was published on the IFF website on Monday and released to the press.According to the released documents Ghotbi’s contract is broken into two phases, the first covers the August 1, 2009 through January 30, 2010 for the pre tax amount of $300K, and the second covers February 1, 2010 through January 31, 2011 for the total pre tax sum of $500K.
So far Ghotbi has received two instalments of $100K each. The first instalment was paid upon the signing of his contract in August of 2009, and the second on October of the same year bringing up the total paid to Ghotbi by the IFF to $200K.
The perks included in the contract are a furnished residence, car and chauffeur, and a business class cell phone account with usage cost paid up to $100 per month.
There are also some incentives included in the terms of the contract. Should Ghotbi coach Iran to the 2011 Asian title he will receive a lump sum of $250K as a bonus. He will also receive a bonus of $150 or $100K, for a second or third place respectively.
If the team finishes amongst the top three in Asia, both sides have the option of extending the contract for another two years.
Any violation of the terms of the contract by either party could cause in a unilateral void by the other.
The IFF released the information in reaction to some of the rumours printed in Iranian tabloids that generally reported over inflated amounts for the terms of the contract. The contract details of Ghotbi’s Dutch assistant Piet Buter may be released later.
