Goal - Persepolis have named former coach Mustafa Denizli as the man they want to replace Nelo Vingada, who resigned last week. Denizli, a former coach of the Turkish national team, is the top of the list of the Tehran club.

He spent one season with the club from August 2006 to July 2007, leading the team to a third-place finish.

He is currently coach of Turkcell Super Lig outfit Besiktas and has just led the team to a league and cup double.

“We have started the preliminary talks with Denizli; he is the first choice to coach Persepolis,” said the club’s chief executive, Abbas Ansarifard, according to Press TV.

“He’s currently busy with his country’s league. We will continue our talks over the next two days and invite him to Tehran.

“I hope to receive a positive response from him. Otherwise, we will negotiate with other big coaches.”

Vingada resigned after Persepolis were eliminated from the Asian Champions League by Bunyodkor on May 27.

Given the recent success of Denizli, it is widely believed that he will turn down the Perspolis position.

A contact who approached Denizli on behalf of Persepolis told Goal.com, “Based on my personal relationship with Ansarifard and Denizli, I informed Mr. Denizli of Perspolis’s official offer; however, Denizli insisted that he will not entertain the offer until Monday.”

Why would he want to come back to a backward country with a backward mentality and footbal clubs run by morons with absolutely no idea of how to manage a club?

Denzili has had major success in Turkey this season and is looking to play in Europe next season, so why should he give that up to come to the hell of IRI?

Its all rumours by arseholes who want to make a name for themselves. Gondegoozi
