Man 'scared by police commander Ali Dizaei's challenge'

A web designer has described how police commander Ali Dizaei challenged him to fight during a row over £600.

Southwark Crown Court heard Mr Dizaei, 47, rowed with Waad Al-Baghdadi when he demanded payment for work on a website.

Mr Al-Baghdadi, 24, said he was left "scared" and "shocked" when the "muscly and bigger" man challenged him near a restaurant in Kensington, west London.

Mr Dizaei denies assault, false arrest, misconduct in public office and perverting the course of justice.

The court heard a dispute between the men came to a head in July 2008 when Mr Al-Baghdadi demanded payment from Britain's most senior Asian officer for work on his personal website, alidizaei.com.

A fortnight's work on the site was said to have stretched for months as Mr Dizaei sent the designer a stream of new speeches, photographs and articles mentioning him to be uploaded.

Mr Al-Baghdadi, an Iraqi national in the UK since 2003, told the court he confronted the police officer after seeing him drunk and dancing at the Persian Yas restaurant in Edgware Road.

He said: "He told me, 'do not talk in front of my wife like this', in a very aggressive way.

"He pointed with his left hand. He said, 'Let's go to that street, I will show you."'

Mr al-Baghdadi continued: "I was shocked - I did not know what to do.

"If I fight, I will go to jail because he is a police officer."

The designer said he returned to the restaurant in an attempt to defuse the row, only to be confronted by Mr Dizaei once more.

CCTV showed Ali Dizaei talking to Mr Al-Baghdadi outside the restaurant

At that point he left and called 999 to complain about the officer, only for Mr Dizaei to appear with handcuffs, interrupt the call and arrest him.

Mr Al-Baghdadi could be heard complaining in Persian that his arm or hand may break, the prosecution said.

But after the incident Mr Dizaei showed a doctor at the police station injuries to his abdomen that the doctor said were likely to be self-inflicted.

He claimed to have been stabbed in the stomach by the end of a traditional 'hookah' water-pipe.

The prosecutor has also said Mr Dizaei claimed to have received threatening voicemails and text messages from Mr Al-Baghdadi before the incident, but had "accidentally" deleted them.

Mr Dizaei, a former president of the National Black Police Association, was prosecuted following an investigation by the Independent Police Complaints Commission.

The case continues.

Wikipedia information about Ali Dizaei

It seems the metropolitan police along with the Tory aligned ultra right wing media such as Daily Mail (who was a staunch supporter of Hitler and the Nazis), and Evening Standard are really out to get him. He has been subject to numerous witch hunts and disciplinary actions and countless accusations of misbehaviour and has been cleared of all of them and all these organisations have had to apologise and retract their statements etc, yet they are still out to get him. This time it seems they are using and Iranian/Iraqi to frame him.

Police commander Ali Dizaei threat claim is 'nonsense'

Metropolitan Police Commander Ali Dizaei has said claims he challenged a man to fight a were "nonsense".

Southwark Crown Court has heard a row broke out in July 2008 when Waad Al-Baghdadi demanded £600 for work on Mr Dizaei's personal website.

Mr Dizaei told the court he was firm with the "threatening" designer but called claims of a challenge "absurd".

Mr Dizaei denies assault, false arrest, misconduct in public office and perverting the course of justice.

The court has heard that the dispute between the men came to a head when Mr Al-Baghdadi demanded payment from Britain's most senior Asian officer for work on alidizaei.com.

Mr Al-Baghdadi called 999 when Mr Dizaei, former president of the National Black Police Association, allegedly challenged him to a fight in the street outside a restaurant in Kensington, west London.

At that point Mr Al-Baghdadi was handcuffed and arrested by Mr Dizaei.

Mr Dizaei told the court: "I was firm and I said to him, 'You are frightening my wife, you are causing a disturbance - just go away.'

"He used a strange Farsi quote which says, 'I will take the money out of your throat.'

"It might sound bizarre when translated into English, but it is a very threatening comment to make to any person."

Responding to claims he challenged Mr Al-Baghdadi to a fight Mr Dizaei said: "It would be absurd to me to point to the crowd and invite Mr al-Baghdadi there for a fist fight.

"It is just complete and utter nonsense."

The court has heard Mr Dizaei told lies and may have faked injuries on himself in an attempt to have the web designer prosecuted.

The trial continues.

Met Commander Ali Dizaei guilty of corruption

Metropolitan Police Commander Ali Dizaei has been found guilty of threatening and falsely arresting a man in a dispute over money.

Dizaei was convicted of misconduct in a public office and perverting the course of justice at Southwark Crown Court after the argument over £600.

The court heard Waad Al-Baghdadi, 24, was arrested by Dizaei in 2008 during a row over work on the officer's website.

BBC

Dizaei is due to be sentenced at 1500 GMT.

Prosecutor Peter Wright QC said the officer was guilty of a "wholesale abuse of power" motivated by self-interest and pride.

The Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC) said "criminals in uniform like Dizaei" were the greatest threat to the reputation of the police.

The dispute between the men came to a head when Mr Al-Baghdadi demanded payment from Britain's most senior Asian officer for work on his personal website, alidizaei.com.

Mr Al-Baghdadi, an Iraqi national who has lived in the UK since 2003, told the court he confronted the police officer after seeing him drunk and dancing at the Persian Yas restaurant in Edgware Road in Kensington, west London, in July 2008.

Dizaei then produced handcuffs and arrested him.

A police doctor told the court that injuries Dizaei claimed had been caused by Mr Al-Baghdadi were probably self-inflicted.

The court also heard Dizaei claimed to have received threatening voicemails and text messages from Mr Al-Baghdadi before the incident, but had "accidentally" deleted them.

Mr Al-Baghdadi said he was left "scared" and "shocked" after the incident.

During the trial he likened the "bully" Dizaei to the movie gangster Tony Montana, played by Al Pacino in the film Scarface.

Mr Wright said once Dizaei realised inconsistencies in his account had been uncovered by detectives he attempted to get the case dropped.

Corruption threat

Dizaei is a former president of the Metropolitan Black Police Association.

He has been suspended on full pay since September 2008, but now stands to be sacked from the Metropolitan Police.

Responding to the verdict, Nick Hardwick of the IPCC said: "He [Dizaei} went on to lie about what had happened and, if he had been successful, Mr Al-Baghdadi may have been sent to prison.

"Dizaei behaved like a bully and the only way to deal with bullies is to stand up to them."

Mr Hardwick continued: "Corruption comes in many forms and remains a threat to the police service. It requires constant vigilance to fight it."

Last November Dizaei was cleared of misusing his corporate credit card.

He had been accused of spending more than £5,000 on clothes and perfume during a trip to the US but an inquiry by Dorset Chief Constable Martin Baker found no evidence of wrongdoing.

It seems they finally managed to accuse and convict him. Another high ranking non British officer brought down and destroyed and yet they say they are not a racist organisation. Unfortunately, non British policemen should understand this that they are only tolerated by the establishment and should have no fantasies of progress and promotion.

The British police force is inherently and categorically a racist organisation based on Masonic favours and self interest with no regard to the welbeing of the citizens of this country.

just a note on the accuracy of BBC's reporting: Yas is in Olympia, a few miles away from Edgware Road. Edgware Road is the Arab centre of London, not Persian. I am not surprised at this as I myself was a witness in a grossly deliberate misreporting of an incident to conform to the propaganda put out by a fascist Tory government under the influence of a blood thirsty female vampire known as Thatcher. So much for BBc being independent.

Met Commander Ali Dizaei jailed for corruption

Metropolitan Police Commander Ali Dizaei has been sentenced to four years in prison for threatening and falsely arresting a man in a row over money.

The court heard Waad Al-Baghdadi, 24, was arrested by Dizaei in 2008 during a row over work on the officer's website.

Dizaei was ordered to spend two years in prison and two years on licence.

Born in Iran in 1962, Dizaei has had a 24-year police career in the UK.

Prosecutor Peter Wright QC said the officer was guilty of a "wholesale abuse of power" motivated by self-interest and pride.

The Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC) said "criminals in uniform like Dizaei" were the greatest threat to the reputation of the police.

Corruption threat

Dizaei is a former president of the Metropolitan Black Police Association.

He had emerged unscathed from a series of earlier inquiries, including a multimillion-pound undercover operation examining claims of corruption, fraud and dishonesty.

So the neofascist, right wing and xenophobic police (read criminal) authority finally got what they were after and that is to use an Iraqi criminal illegal immigrant, promise him residency if he testified against a senior policeman who used everything in his power to expose the criminal activities of the masonic police force, and destroyed another decent human being in order to carry on with their masonic criminal activities.

It seems the whole thing was definitely a setup by right wing fascist warlords of a fascist police force. Mr Dizaei has won his appeal for a review after making available documents that the Arab piece of shit was a fraudster and had used his Arab ways to bring a decent Iranian to disrepute, helped by the racist fascists who had been found out and exposed by Mr Dizaei.

Ali Dizaei wins appeal against corruption convictions

Former Metropolitan Police commander Ali Dizaei has won an appeal against charges of misconduct and corruption.

Mr Dizaei, 48, was jailed in February 2010 for four years for misconduct in public office and perverting the course of justice. He now faces a retrial.

He was accused of making threats, assault, false arrest and faking evidence against Waad al-Baghdadi, over a money dispute.

The judge said Mr Dizaei "would be granted bail forthwith".

Lord Justice Hughes and two other judges at the Court of Appeal in London allowed the challenge brought by Mr Dizaei, who was not present for the ruling.

The Court of Appeal was told that Mr al-Baghdadi was a fraudster who had lied to investigators and at the trial last year.

Police also confirmed that he was arrested on 6 March on of suspicion benefit fraud.

At a previous hearing, Michael Mansfield QC, for Mr Dizaei, accused Mr al-Baghdadi of lying to obtain residence in the UK.

The key witness in the case against jailed Met Police officer Ali Dizaei is a benefit cheat who lied about fleeing persecution in Iraq, a court has heard.

Waad Al-Baghdadi was "pivotal" in the case against Dizaei who was jailed for four years, the High Court was told.

Yet new evidence shows Mr Al-Baghdadi, 25, told a "series of lies" during last year's trial, the court heard.

Wall of deceit'

The court heard before coming from Iran to the UK in 2003, Mr Al-Baghdadi's family devised a plan to pretend they were fleeing from persecution in Iraq.

Mr Al-Baghdadi followed his mother some time after she was granted indefinite leave to remain in the country, the court heard.

Mr Mansfield said he accepted he would "get in under the umbrella of his mother's subterfuge and deceit" by claiming he was from Iraq and saying he was two years younger than his real age so he could be classed as a dependant.

He also claimed a woman who was his sister-in-law was his sister, the court heard.

"These are all bricks in a wall of deceit erected before they leave," Mr Mansfield said.

"It isn't a haphazard arrangement. These are planned lies."
'Living off the state'

The court heard it has also emerged Mr Al-Baghdadi was arrested on suspicion of benefit fraud.

Mr Al-Baghdadi received pension credit on behalf of his dead father worth at least £18,000, carer's allowance of £1,748, plus attendance allowance and a social fund loan that he was not not entitled to, the High Court was told.

Police confirmed Mr Al-Baghdadi was arrested on 6 March and had been bailed until 6 May. No charges have been brought against him.

Mr Al-Baghdadi' benefits claims revealed a "pattern of persistent and elaborate deceit", Mr Mansfield told the court

"This is a man who is basically living off the state year in, year out, dishonestly," Mr Mansfield said:

Lord Justice Hughes, one of the appeal court judges, said evidence that Mr Al-Baghdadi had cheated the benefits system was a "clear, prima facie case of dishonesty.... that he is a fraudsman".

During Dizaei's trial, Mr Al-Baghdadi told a "series of lies about himself", falsely claiming he was born and raised in Iraq and failing to reveal under repeated questioning that his father was in fact dead, the court heard.

He also lied about a "dodgy" bank card from the Halifax which tied him to the alleged benefit fraud, Mr Mansfield said.

Mr Al-Baghdadi "dumped" the bank card at the restaurant because he knew there was a possibility he would be arrested, the court was told.
