fter losing 1-0 in the first leg, Esteghlal went to work quickly.

Mehdi Amirabadi put Esteghlal ahead in the 15th minute in front of about 90,000 spectators.

Mojtaba Jabbari set him up to score, passing a ball through Pegah’s defenders which Amirabadi flicked past Pegah’s keeper Ali Nazar Mohammadi.

Esteghlal scored once again five minutes into the first additional time when Jabbari opened the Pegah's net after Ali Alizadeh threw a long ball into the box .

Nervous Pegah put its host under pressure but failed to score and Esteghlal’s striker Arash Borhani diminished their hope when he trebled the score in the 100th minute, sliding the ball into Pegah’s net.

Referee Hedayat Mombeini sent off Esteghlal defender Amir Hossein Sadeghi because of a violent tackle on the Pegah player four minutes before the end of the match.

Esteghlal won the Iran’s League Cup title for the fifth time.

Also, veteran Ali Mansourian bid farewell to Esteghlal at the end of this match.

Romario Jaan

Thanks for the News, I can't remember the last time Persepolis and Esteghlal were both in Asia at the same time, let us hope that their joint return will bring success for Iran in ACL but I must say with the coaches we have in these two teams I can't see them winning ACL, Ghotbi could have done it for Persepolis but not the likes of Estili, I am not optimistic on Esteghlal's chances either, Ghalenoei's limits are below ACL level.

Afshin jaan,

I don't believe Esteghlal and perspolise have ever been in ACL at the same time, as there used to be 2 different competitions if I recall, and as far as both being champs at the same time, I don't believe so, I seem to remember the hafzi cup was typically won by a club other than the big two who were constantly fighting for the league.... I could be wrong, but I know this was Esteghlal's 5th time winning the cup

Romario is right, last time PP & ESES were in Asia together it wasn't called ACL, it was one tournament for Hazfi winners for for league winner, had different names, can't remember
