OK, before anyone says anything, as far as I am concerned, result was the most important thing. Also I did not watch the game or followed it online as I was in a meeting with my solicitor for 4 hours. I just finished and read saw the result on the net.

Iran 2 - 0 Kuwait with the second goal in injury time by Rezaei.

Ali Daei has done a great job since taking over and Iran can only get better.

Now lets see what the next round brings as we have been improving all the time.

I must add that Syria were unlucky to concede a goal in UAE or they would have gone through instead of the hosts.

BWTB Jaan

Iran did well enough, they are an improving side, remember no Khalili & no Nikbakht upfront, Daei has got these results without the traditional big names from WC2006, well we have Zandi, Nekunam and Ando but the likes of Kia, Hashemian, Rezaei, Karimi are no longer there.

Although, the team has done well to pull themselves out of a very bad situation, but these results against minnows are not and should not be used as a yard stick for measuring success.  On the other hand bringing the new blood is indeed a good thing, but on the other hand writing off likes of Kia, Hashemian, Karimi is not good either.

I am surprised to hear Iran have lined up several friendly matches and a camp in Europe, this is good preparation for Team Melli before next round qualifiers, I had a nasty feeling we would play one or two PGL teams and then take on Japan and Australia.

Lets see if the fundamental problems we have are going to be addressed with Daei in charge.
