AFC - Iran’s preparations for the final round of the 2010 FIFA World Cup Asian qualifiers suffered another blow on Thursday when Egypt cancelled their scheduled August 20 friendly game for political reasons.

Earlier, their three planned friendlies against Spanish clubs Marbella and Malaga and English side Charlton Athletic were called off throwing the preparations into disarray.

Egyptian Football Association (EFA) president Samir Zaher told Dream TV: "The Egyptian foreign ministry told us to reconsider playing the match."

"They did not oblige us to cancel it, but we decided to call off the match."

The African champions were scheduled to face Ali Daei’s charges on August 20 in UAE. Currently, the team is training in Spain and will play two friendly matches against Czech Republic clubs.

Iran will also take part in the West Asian Championship to be played in Tehran from August 7 to 16

Team Melli were drawn into Group B in the final round of World Cup qualifiers along side Korea Republic, Saudi Arabia, DPR Korea and UAE. They begin their campaign against Saudi Arabia away on September 6.

well there are the 2 czech clubs...

And ofcourse the US wants to station their nuclear bases directed at Russia and Iran in the Czech republic.

Guess what the outcome of the two friendlies are going to be.

Romario Jaan

I would be amazed if the Czech games were not cancelled, we hardly ever have a friendly that is not cancelled.  Egypt would have been a very good test for us, they are a stronger team than we are.

time keeps running.....every day we get loser to world cup and this comedy show by IFF continues.....I really don't know any more to cry or laugh...since it really becomes a cheap comedy.......... seems they will ask the entire NATO nation by nation for friendlies to be 100% sure that all time is wasted and no friendly would be set

I bet with you IFF will keep ask the wrong teams till all teams which were ready to play vs IRAN like Russia or south Africa would be booked.... and than IFF officials would in last seconds organize a friendly vs some teams in abadan or ahvaz or maybe again Bosnia

and if the team would perform weak, every thing would be blamed on DAEI and IFF would replace him by Galenoei or Mayeli and the entire story would repeat itself till world cup 2014...........

I have to say, I feel sorry for our players, they are victims in all this as well, we expect them to qualify for WC, they are under immense pressure but they are ill-prepared since they get no practice matches, I would hate to be a team melli player.

To be honest this time it's not IFF, especially with Egypt...

We need to give blame when its due, and give credit where its due, and in all honesty this time, it wasn't IFF...

wait a minute!!! exactly right now we can blame IFF...... let me explain why!

this is one of those funny old stories....there was once a guy who had arguments with his wife cuz of  his mother...the wife said, she doesn't want the old woman to be there any more and the husband must decide between her and his mother...so finally the guy suggested, ok I will bring my mom to bazar to sell her......

any way, on the way to bazar one of his neighbours saw him and asked, hey where are you going...and the guy told him the story.... the shocked neighbour said, how can you sell your own mother...and the guy answered: don't worry I will offer her for a price that noone would be ready to pay for her

this is the same with IFF.... since few years whenever IFF don't want any friendly games, they go around and keep asking lot of teams, but they always ask same type of nations......IFF always asked countries, which every little school kid knows that they would cancel the games.... so IFF keep asking NATO members, or countries with stronlgy pro American governments and as soon as the games are canceled, IFF can be happy and blame it on others....and this is now continuing since years and each time lot of time get wasted so at the end teame melli can only have some crapy friendlies vs iranian teams (mostly not even from first devision) or bosnia and syria

every person who has just a little knowledge about global politics, know that there are countries which are resisting USA since years and always even supported IRAN's right of having nuclear technology..... and some of them  have good football teams if IRAN would book the games early before their teams would be booked...

here just some examples:

in Europe: Russia, Belarus

in South America: Brazil (of course a game vs Brazil cost some money, but it really worth it for IRAN's team)
Venezuela, Bolivia (euador and Chile would also be possible, if IRAN is ready to let the team fly over)

in Africa: South Africa(the host of next world cup and one of countries with good relation to IRAN)

BUT did you know, that none of mentioned  countries ever has been asked by IFF

and please don't tell me that IFF officials don't know, which countries have good relation with IRAN....when it comes to a a cartoon in a regional Danish newspaper, they seem to very fast know every thing just within hours and organize demos....

but look instead which nations(weather their national teams or clubs)have been asked since 2005 till today by IFF: Poland, romania, Ukraine,Egypt, England etc......

and you still believe IFF isn't doing this on purpose?Huh?Huh?Huh??
