Goal - The match between the two powerhouses is the first of Group B but Ali Daei has decided against calling up the Eintracht Frankfurt star, even telling media that the former Asian Player of the Year did not fit in with the way he wants Team melli to play.

“I don’t have any comments on Team Melli since the team needs peace and calmness at the moment. I am currently training with Eintracht Frankfurt and I don’t think about anything else”, the 31-year-old told Iran Pro Sport News Agency.

When asked about the comments of Daei, a former national team-mate, Mahdavikia again preferred not to talk.

“I have been contacted by many reporters. They quote certain officials or head coach comments on me. I am not sure what is going on in Iran and therefore would rather not comment on the national team.

“I also prefer not to speak publicly on this issue as I don’t want to create side issues for the national team.”

Kia has ALWAYS BEEN A CLASS ACT!  For all the love that Daei used to get from people, in all honesty, Kia has been our most successful legionnaire, longest serving, and for the longest time was one of the best players in Germany in his position.  I am very disappointed in Daei as he's letting his own agenda screw TM over... I'm guessing he's already forgotten AC '04 when the Bahraini player fouled him from behind the first person there to have Daei's back was Kia....

Shame on you Daei, Shame!
Good luck to TM, but Daei just showed his lack of class and Kia showed his Class

Kia the most successful Iranian player in Europe for sure, pressure is getting to Daei, he shouts on 90 program with anger, Daei said Kia has not played much, I would use Kia in right back against KSA due to his experience and maturity, he can deal with the pressure in KSA
