Iran triumphs over UK at Paralympics

PTV - Iran has been victorious over the United Kingdom in Wednesday's 7-a-side football tournament at the Beijing 2008 Paralympic Games.

The Iranian squad thrashed the UK 3-0 in their second successive win of the games.

Moslem Akbari scored one goal while Abdolreza Karimzadeh netted the other two goals for the superior Iranian squad.

Iran easily defeated Ireland 4-2 in their opening pool game on Monday, and is scheduled to face Ukraine on Friday.

Iran is in Group B competing with Britain, Ireland and Ukraine while Group A consists of Russia, Brazil, the Netherlands and host China.

The 7-a-side football competition of the 2008 Summer Paralympics is being held in the Olympic Green Hockey Field during September 8-16.
