Let us see what makes us happy in our daily lives.

Today I passed my motorcycle theory and hazard perception test. For those that do not know the system in UK, the test is a two part test taken at the same sitting.

Part 1)  there are over 1260 theory questions that can be asked. At the test centre they ask you 50 of which you should get 43 correct. You have less than an hour to complete this section and it is done online.

Part 2) At the end of part 1, you are shown a series of 14 video clips, each with one major potential or developing driving hazard (One video has 2). It is difficult to judge what could constitute a hazard and what is not a hazard. Ofcourse there are some obvious ones like a child running across the road or a cyclist swerving infront of you but there are times when a pedestrian walking on the pavement could be considered a potential hazard if that pedestrian is coming approaching a pedestrian crossing.

Anyway, to identify a hazard, you have to click the mouse when you think there is a hazaqrd developing and you have 2 seconds to identify the sequence from a potential hazard to a developed hazard and to make sure that people do not click willy nilly, your clicks are measured and if a pattern is identified, the clip is stopped and you score zero.

The maximum marks are 75 and to pass you have to get 44. Well I passed with 54  Smiley but I was ready for a showdown because two of my video clips were judged as not acceptable because of a click pattern, but the unaccepted click was at the end of the video when it had finished and it was only ONE click so there could not have been a pattern. I was ready to challenge the decision but my result came as a pass with very good marks. Many people tend to fail this part of the test.

Now I can go for my full motorcycle licence and that is what made me happy today Smiley

I had a bike when I was living in London in 1982 but never bothered to go for the test but now I got the bug again and cannot stop riding even in heavy rain. I just love it.

being a small business owner in this screwed up economy, I find it very hard to find things that would make me happy BUT I just bought a new BBQ grill today so I am going to be making lots of kabobs from now on to make up for it Smiley
