If this News is true (the source is reliable) then this just shows you how professionals are forced out of Iran football by a corrupt and incompetent system that does not wish our football to progress, I doubt if Persepolis will do well in ACL.

This is a reminder why Ali Daei is the best choice for Team Melli, the Mafia can try pushing Daei out but he has the gang behind him to see them off, Ghotbi is not into gangs and has no power in the system, hence he can be pushed out like this.

PTV - The coach of Tehran’s popular team Persepolis, Afshin Qotbi, has resigned from his post and left the Iranian capital for Dubai.

Qotbi announced his resignation following a training session on Tuesday evening.

The coach revealed that he had stepped down because authorities at the club had failed to keep their promises.

“When I came back to Iran, Persepolis authorities made lots of promises to provide me with good conditions but most of these promises were not kept,” Qotbi said.

“My resignation is the most painful decision I have ever made in my life,” he added.

Qotbi wished success to the Reds saying, “I hope they are successful in the Premier league and the Asian competitions.”

Defending champion Persepolis has performed poorly this season and currently sits in fourth place in the Iranian Premier League (IPL) with 22 points.

The title-holder has been defeated four times this season, loosing against Mes of Kerman, Abumoslem of Mashhad, Foulad of Khuzestan and Moghavemat Sepasi of Shiraz.

PTV - Former Iranian national soccer captain Afshin Peyrovani has been named as the interim coach of his former club Persepolis of Tehran.

“The decision was made by the club’s board of directors on Wednesday morning,” said Persepolis managing director, Dariush Mostafavi.

The 38-year-old Peyrovani expressed his pleasure at the appointment.

“I am happy that I have been selected as the club’s interim coach. This is the toughest responsibility in Persepolis but I hope to gain good results with my colleagues’ cooperation,” Peyrovani said.

“We should resume our growing trend by getting a good result in Saturday’s match against Paykan in Qazvin,” he added.

The new coach further promised that the Reds would win the country’s Premier League, the Hazfi Cup and Asian competitions.

Peyrovani replaces former coach, Afshin Qotbi, who resigned on Tuesday evening and left the country for the UAE on Wednesday morning, citing ‘broken promises’ by club authorities as the reason for his departure.

Persepolis has performed poorly this season and currently stands fourth in the Iranian Premier League (IPL) on 22 points.

Oh well.  Here we go again.

Qotbi got most of the things he asked for them.  Who brought DeCarmo and cost so much money?  I would not hire someone to live in UAE or keep his wife there.  Either live in Iran or do not come to Iran.

My worry is that he will get a lot of money, even the first half of the season is not finished.

Good luck to Gotbi.  Good luck to reds.  Peyrovani is not a good coach.

I have talked about Qotbi in the past..
we do not know behind the seen issues....I am sure there were a lot.
Agree with Persian...either don't come to Iran or bring the family and live there....Millions are living there, a lot of S.Koreans living there....what's wrong with that??  Roll Eyes

also....Here in the USA, I say this because Afshin grow up here, you do not QUIT...you always tell your kids and people in the sports, either don't start, or when you start, you finish it.
I was shocked when I heard the news,,,,this is not from a guy whom has spent more time here in USA than IRAN.
yes in Iran we use to it... you take a class,,,any class, like coocking, Karate, language and so on... suddenly you quit..."oh I hate it" bammmmm quit and no parents will push the kids....yet here in the USA, we do not let that happen....again, either do not start, or when you start, u have to finish it Wink

I think he will be back one day....don't know when, but he will. I won't be surprised if we hear later on  SOMEONE pushed him for it
SOMEONE maybe made a threat  Huh? either u go or u r dead...u know that kind ...
SOMEONE maybe just had it for him....he went so fast, his meeting was to 1 am and he left 3am?? come on? something smells here?Huh?
that fast, no one leaves unless you are afraid, you will be sent to JAIL or something....
anything is possible there...
especially when ESTILLI a s s and KASHANIE JACK A S S are behind it Wink

Ba salam and sorry for a long absence.

Dashali is right on his statement. There were a lot of behind the scene issues.
Papers report the obvious ones. Just look and see what happened after Ghotbi left:

- Several players who were second tier are "happy." See Mamani, Alavi comments.
- Estili immediately announced that he is ready to step in
- According to the papers, "Perspolis Leaders who didn't care much for Ghotbi" were pleased with his absence
- Pious and Mayeli Kohan are pleased that he is gone.

Now I ask you this question. Which other Iranian coach (not Koch or other foreigners) do you recall that during their tenure at Esteghlal or Perspolis their players dared to go on record repeatedly and criticize their coach?

Ghotbi and the team won last year's IPL despite a 6 point deduction.
Ghotbi and the team failed this year to be consistent.

Ghotbi stated publicly that certain plays were suspect.

This reminds me, what happened to Saipa's German coach after he kicked Daei out of locker room in week 2?
They gave up 5 goals in an Asian match.
They gave up 6 goals to was it Esteghlal of Ahvaz?

I am not accusing players directly but I will tell you this. When a coach has to go, suspiciously results prepare the change. Whether it is in Saipa, it was with Koch and Denizli and now with Ghotbi. Remember Perspolis Hazfi final of 2 years ago?

Thank you Kaveh jaann, This also goes to 'prove' what I have been saying about certain TM players just before and during the World Cup. Mr Moozi Karimi springs to mind. remember how he disrupted the camp just before the game with Bahrain in 2001? Remember how he just easily gave the ball to Shay Givens in Dublin when he was clear on goal where even a 5 year old could score? Remember how disruptive he was during WC2006? And now trying to disrupt the camp with Daei in charge?

There are more of these dicks in TM that have to be exposed. I think Mr Vafoori Enayati and Khar Khatibi were others, that is why I support Daei in his plans to rid TM of these binamoos vatanforoosh creatures and only Daei with his 'gang' and connections is the person to stand upto the IRI and IFF Arab regine.

In Peykan – Perspolis game was announced that he was given until Monday to make his final decision.

I do not understand Qotebi said no and left, whey to bring him back?  I was surprised to see Badamaki to play in this game, plus two other new faces.  It was Peyrovani’s fault to allow Nickback to try the second penalty and he should have been changed earlier.

No top job is easy.  But all depends on the contract is written that no one has mentioned it.  Everyone has or will have enemies.  Qotebi also has made mistakes such as supporting DeCarmo after missing so many chances.  It raised suspicion about accession(s) that he might have benefited from the transfer deal.

I would not worry about few nutty players, we have many good players who love to play and make a living from football.
