(PressTV) Iranian Navy discovers 200,000 liters of smuggled diesel in a foreign ship off the coast of Khuzestan Province in the Persian Gulf.

Coastguards from the southwestern city of Abadan stopped the ship near the mouth of Arvand River where it joins the Persian Gulf.

“They bought excess diesel from Iranian launches and sold it to oceangoing ships,” Mehr news agency quoted a top anti-smuggling affairs committee official as saying.

According to reports, the captain of the ship is an Iraqi national and its 10 crew members are from Bangladesh, India and Iraq.

The spirit of enterprise has been smashed  Grin

Seriously though, how much diesel a launch would use compared to ocean going ships for them to sell their excess? And surely the ships would have contracts to buy diesel at very preferential rates anyway. I know diesel is cheap in Iran and everything but the ships could buy diesel from Iran at Iranian ports at a preferential rate.

I smell somethng else. Maybe IRI officials did not get their 'cut' or wanted more  Wink
