PTV - Iran's Mohammd Nouri has scored two goals in two minutes to see his side thrashing Singapore 6-0 in the 2011 AFC Asian Cup qualifiers.

Singapore displayed an exceptional performance in the first half of the opening match of the qualifying round at Tehran's Azadi Stadium. The hosts had to wait 42 minutes for the breakthrough, which came when Majid Gholamnejad sent the ball to the back of the net.
Iran was the dominant side in the second half. It was only seven minutes after the break when captain Karim Baqeri scored the second goal for Iran.

Gholamreza Rezaei (55'), Maziar Zare (80') and Mohammd Nouri (82', 83') completed Iran's easy win against a Singapore, which saw one of its players sent off in the first half.
Iran will play its next Asian Cup qualifier on January 28 against Thailand.

Very good start for Iran. Daei has had an impressive record so far and the goals came from IPL based players which makes it extra sweet  Wink

It has to be said Singapore is the weakest team in the group, Iran has had problems with the other teams in the group Jordan and Thailand in the last 6 or 7 years, so early days yet.

Well these days there are no weak teams anymore but I was impressed with the passing game that Iran deployed. Watch the second goal and it was brilliant and even the through balls from midfield were good. I know Syria and Jordan will be more of an opposition than Singapore but I think Jordan have had their golden days and are on the decline while Syria are on the up. Still, We should progress easily from the group.

Just one correction, its Jordan and Thailand, we'll see how it goes but both these teams have given us headaches in recent years
